Bark Edged Petrified Wood Bowl

This Petrified Wood bowl from Madagascar is composed of rich reds, yellows and browns.  A central bull's eye pattern surrounded by a pattern of concentric rings depicts a characteristic pattern found in Petrified Wood.  Neutral bark edging provides great texture and contrast.  Petrified Wood forms when fallen trees are washed down a river and buried under layers of mud, ash from volcanoes and other materials. Over millions of years, these minerals crystallize within the cellular structure of the wood forming the stone-like petrified wood.  Petrified Wood is a stone of transformation providing a feeling of security and safety thereby calming fears.
