Polished Septarian Sculpture

Crystal filled Septanian Nodule from Utah.  Septarian is derived from the Latin work septem meaning seven. These nodules were formed 50-70 million years ago in Utah. Mud balls which created this mineral cracked with seven points in every direction creating the crackle pattern. The yellow centers are composed of Calcite crystals, the brown lines are Aragonite and the outer grey skin is Limestone
